A Simple Daily Wellness Routine for Busy Moms (That Actually Works)✨
Intro
Taking care of yourself can feel impossible when you’re taking care of everyone else. Between kids, work, the house, and everything in between… your needs usually come last. But here’s the truth i had to learn the hard way:
you can’t pour into your family the way you want to if you’re constantly running empty.
Wellness doesn’t have to be complicated. It doesn’t require a perfect routine or hours of free time. It just needs to be simple… and consistent.
🌱 What Wellness Looks Like in Real Life
Wellness isn’t about doing everything “right.” It’s about creating small moments in your day that help you feel:
grounded
calm
more like yourself again
Some days that looks like a full routine. Other days it’s just taking a breath and starting again (Do you really think as a mom with a husband & 3 kids I get to FULLY live out my routine every single day? Absolutely not! In a perfect world, maybe!)
Nevertheless, at the end of the day, both matter.
☀️ My Simple Daily Wellness Routine
this is what i come back to when life feels busy or overwhelming:
1. Start with a Quiet Moment (2–5 minutes)
Before grabbing your phone…take a moment. Pray and seek The Lord. breathe. sit in silence. Even a few minutes helps center your mind before the day starts. Sometimes, it takes getting up earlier to have a small moment of peace to collect yourself before a busy day, whether it’s a work or off day.
2. Drink Water First
It sounds simple—but it matters. Before coffee. before rushing. Just hydrate your body! That 1st 8oz of water is crucial - it helps to wake your organs up, gives mental clarity, and many other health benefits before truly getting the day started. Small habits like this build consistency and energy over time.
3. Step Outside or Move Your Body
I know for myself, I recently got into the groove of waking up, getting myself together, and sitting out on my small back porch getting into my Word, followed by another good read. I periodically come back in to check and see if any of the kiddos had awakened, and go back out to enjoy that time a little while longer before the morning sets sail. You can also do small movement exercises to encourage circulation. & look guys - this doesn’t have to be a full workout. Just:
a short walk
stretching
standing outside for fresh air
Movement helps reset your mind more than you realize.
4. Do One Thing That Brings You Peace
Not everything has to be productive. Choose one simple thing:
journaling
reading
sitting in quiet
listening to music
This is how you reconnect with yourself! All of these are certainly my favorite things to do at the moment. Buy a cheap journal from your local store, check out a good library book (if you’re like me, I had to get a new one!), not too big on sitting in silence, but I do like the ambiance of music!
5. End Your Day with a Reset
before bed, take a few minutes to:
reflect on your day (even if that’s taking time and talking to God).
Put on a face mask/exfoliate your skin! (Skin exfoliation helps me feel super rejuvenated and helps replenish skin overnight!)
release what didn’t go right
prepare mentally for tomorrow
Most importantly, give yourself grace for what you couldn’t do.
💛 Give Yourself Permission to Keep It Simple
You don’t need a perfect routine. You don’t need to do all 5 things every day. This isn’t about adding pressure—it’s about creating space. space to breathe. space to reset. space to show up as your best self.
🌿 From My Heart to Yours
if you’ve been feeling tired, overwhelmed, or stretched too thin…this is your reminder: you matter too. Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. start small. start simple.
just start.
✨ In Closing
You don’t need a whole new life to feel better…
Sometimes you just need a few rooted moments in your day.
